Summary of Job Function

Responsible for oversight of the loan operations support staff. This includes document preparation, processing and servicing, balancing, quality control and customer service.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Provide direction to the loan operations staff. Assist with carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Work closely with loan production staff to promote communication and to ensure quality service & delivery to the lines of business as well as with external customers.
- Develop and maintain workflows for all stages of document preparation, closing, file documentation and collateral management.
- Direct loan input and verification procedures for all loans. Ensure proper segregation of duties.
- Oversee loan documentation processing procedures.
- Maintain and demonstrate proficiency with loan software applications (FIS, LaserPro, etc.). Work with system providers to utilize applications to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supervise loan document preparation to ensure all loans are being processed in a timely and proper manner. Verify that all loans are processed in accordance with established regulations and bank policies.
- Supervise all aspects of servicing for all loans. This supervision includes posting of payments, the payment of taxes for all escrow accounts, escrow analysis and the release of collateral for paid loans.
- Assist with the preparation for loan reviews. Prepare responses for internal audit reviews and take corrective action as necessary.
- Work closely with loan production staff to promote communication and to ensure quality service & delivery to the lines of business as well as with external customers.
- Act as liaison to the Compliance Officer for compliance issues.
- Interact with outside counsel on loan closings and other documentation-related matters.
- Participate in various committees as appointed, e.g. Compliance Committee, CRA Committee.
- Comply fully with all Banking and Lending regulations.
- Perform other related work as required.
Skills & Knowledge
- Experience working in an operations environment.
- Experience in managing people - Includes staff in planning and decision-making, facilitating process improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Writes clearly and informatively.
- Project Management – Demonstrates the ability to develop and coordinate projects.

- Strong knowledge of PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Prefer knowledge of LaserPro and FIS.

Qualifications
- Minimum 7-plus years experience in Loan Operations.
- In depth knowledge of FIS Insight loan modules-knowledge of deposit systems a plus.
- Education: College degree preferred, but not required. High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Major Responsibilities (in order of importance)
- Booking, funding and processing of moderate to difficult loan structures on FIS Insight system
- Process charge off, non-accrual, Purchased Asset and Managed Asset transactions
- Prepare and report CRA/HMDA loan transactions
- Complete loan recalculations and adjustments as needed for all criticized assets
- Balance participation loans between Wintrust sister Banks as well as external participants
- Assist in preparing payoff letters and releases
- Assist in processing daily work flow to ensure strict deadlines are met
- Manage and complete requests to research complex loan transactions
- Assist with department tasks as well as other corporate initiatives as assigned
- Ensure service is at highest level for internal and external customers
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations
Skills & Knowledge
- Positive attitude and professional customer service is a must
- Must be familiar with business asset financing, commercial real estate and consumer related documentation
- Familiarity with commercial and consumer lending regulations
- CRA/HMDA experience a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines
- Must be prepared to work in a team environment and be organized to juggle various tasks
- Must be comfortable and proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook applications
- Knowledge of Harland Laser Pro a plus
